This post explains and shows you how to upload a video to YouTube.
Now if the thought of doing videos scares you to death, as it did me, just a few short years ago, then fear not
Because… Once you do one video, you… Get over it and in turn become more accomplished at doing them!
YouTube, is the worlds second largest search engine, after google, it is also the worlds largest generator of traffic to your website
This post doesn’t go into those details, but suffice to say, that outside of a google search, the next place people go to is YouTube
Also by having a YouTube Channel, it provides you with more options for sharing your website/ product or service through the uploads that you do
it is a great way to build up the know like and Trust factor, because its the closest thing to ‘Face to Face’ meeting online.
Now there are couple of ways to upload a video to YouTube.
Before you do, the first thing you need to do, is download, some video recording software, such as
Jing, Snagit, or as I use ScreencastOmatic, my personal preference is screencastomatic, because its simple to use
So this post will focus on that method
Screencast, gives you two options for use. One is Free, the other is a reasonably priced Pro Edition
Depending on what you are intending to do with your video, the free version should be sufficient : )
So you open screencast, as you will see below
Select the recording option, in the bottom left hand corner, as shown below
(Screen Recording option image)
Then start recording. You can record videos, with the free version, which are 3 minutes long. 3 minutes in truth is the right length of time to watch a video and one that is on topic
Once you are happy with your recordinng, simply click the ‘done’ button, (below)
Next, you get presented with a box, which asks you to describe the video, this is fairly self explanatory
Once that is done, you have two options available
The first one is to save it as an MP4 file to your desktop
The second option is to upload directly to YouTube
Now either option is fine and works well, you can use both, as they both produce the same end result
However, as a top tip for you, it might be better to save as an MP4 file on your desk top first
Uploading To YouTube
Once you have it saved on your desk top, you can upload it directly to your YouTube Channel ; )
To do this, you need to log into your Channel, then go to the icon (shown below) at the top
Click that and you get asked two questions
Select the Upload Video option, which then lets you upload a video from whereever you have it stored on your computer.
Once that is done, thats its, you have uploaded a video to YouTube
